
Trust yourself – I’ve had 2 great examples this week of what happens when you don’t trust your instincts. When you feel that you should say no to someone/something or walk away, you should trust that. If you don’t, then you’re likely to find that their behavior towards you will be disrespectful or they will try to misuse you in some way, or you’ll be stuck in a situation that you don’t want.
This can be difficult because we are taught that we should put others first, and, as an Enneagram number Two (The Helper) it’s particularly difficult for me because our natural instinct is to focus on others, rather than ourselves.
I am learning to stop worrying what others think and to think instead about what is right for me and to pay attention to what my intuition is telling me. This is the opposite of selfish – because if it doesn’t feel right for me to engage with someone, then it’s really not right for them either.
