When you need support … let people know what you need and how they can help you. I often speak with people who are frustrated because their needs are not being met, but they are assuming that the other person knows what it is that they need – they don’t.
For example, some people have helper personalities and if you tell them about some issue you’re having they are most likely to try to figure out a solution for you – but this may not be what you want or need. Perhaps you just want someone to listen and not try to offer suggestions.
Or perhaps you’re telling someone about a problem you’re having because you want them to offer suggestions but they don’t. You might think that they don’t care, but they may not realize that you’re expecting them to help you in this way.
You’re much more likely to receive exactly the type of support you need if you let the person know what it is that you need. And also allow them to tell you if they are (or are not) able to give you what you’re looking for. If they can’t then don’t take it personally, but look for someone else who may be able to help.
Try this affirmation:
I have all the support that I need. I just have to ask.
