Sometimes you might say “yes” to things you’d rather not do because you’re afraid of upsetting someone or feel you ‘should’ do it and you’d feel guilty if you didn’t.
You might say “no” to something you’d really like to do because you feel you need to hold yourself back and that someone else would be upset if you did what you really wanted to do. Perhaps you feel it would be selfish of you to do the thing you really want to do.
This behavior can become so deeply ingrained that we automatically say the opposite of what we’d really like to say. But every time you say the opposite of what you really mean, you hold yourself back and block your energy, and you may be doing it unconsciously.
Next time you have a decision to make about whether or not to do something, give yourself some breathing space and check in with yourself to see what you would REALLY like to do. Learn to say “yes” to the things you want to do and “no” the things you don’t and you’ll find your energy opening up in more positive and uplifting ways.
