Give it time – Last week’s tip was about setting intentions and being aware of the intention behind everything that you do. Sometimes, when people try this for the first time they feel frustrated because it’s not working right away.
When you find yourself in this situation it’s often because there is some deeper resistance at play. So, for example, if you’re setting an intention that a certain project is going to flow easily and it does just the opposite, you may be tempted to think that this ‘setting intention’ business doesn’t work. But the reality is that you probably don’t believe it will work and that you are also so used to things being difficult that you can’t imagine things any other way.
This takes practice. Start with small things – like setting an intention before you drive downtown that you will easily find the ideal parking space. Or try this affirmation, it’s one of my favorites and is ideal for when you are rushing and are afraid you might arrive somewhere late or miss a deadline:
“Time expands for me, I have plenty of time.”
Setting intentions does work, be patient, give it time, and keep practicing.
