When you love helping others… you must get better at self-care.
If you’re used to putting others first all the time, you probably find your energy becoming depleted and you cannot give what you do not have. So often we want to help others when we are struggling ourselves and then frustration and resentment can build as we become more and more depleted.
You might think it’s selfish to take care of yourself or put yourself first when others need help, but it’s exactly the opposite. When your needs are met and you feel good, you are able to help others from a place of strength, which means that you can help them even more.
The best way to truly help others is to lead by example. Practice self-care so that you feel good. That in itself is an inspiration and huge help for others.
I think this quote sums it up quite well: "You cannot get poor enough to help poor people thrive nor sick enough to help sick people get well." – Abraham
Try this affirmation:
“The more I take care of myself, the more I am able to give to others.”
