If you’ve ever had those experiences when everything seems to fall into place easily and effortlessly – that’s flowing downstream. That’s when everything is in alignment and what you are doing is right. It feels effortless.
When you’re paddling upstream, however, you begin to doubt yourself and feel that perhaps what you’re doing is the wrong thing and you may even be tempted to give it all up and start over with something new.
There are two things that are helpful at times like this:
- Take a step back. Give yourself some breathing space and stop trying to force things.
- Talk it through with someone who is dedicated to your success. Sometimes there’s one small thing that you can’t see because you’re so close to what you’re doing, but someone on the outside can help you see it. Making one small change may be the thing that makes all the difference.
So if you find yourself paddling upstream, perhaps it’s time to pull your oars into the boat, rest a while and find a way to look at things from a new perspective.
Try this affirmation:
“I am willing to allow things to flow smoothly and easily. I have all the support that I need.”
