Who’s in control? – have you noticed that there are multiple aspects to your personality? There’s the part of you that is loving and kind, the part of you that’s critical and judgmental, the part of you that’s patient and the part of you that’s impatient and easily irritated, and so on.
There’s the part of you that’s motivated and determined and there’s the part of you that wants to curl up in a ball and hope the world goes away.
We all have multiple parts to our personality and the trick is to accept them all and to recognize what part of your personality is in control at any given time.
When things aren’t going well, it’s easy for the ‘negative’ parts of your personality to take over – telling you how hopeless everything is and taking your energy into a downward spiral so your vibration is lowered. Once this happens it can be difficult to move out of it.
But we always have the choice, when the unhelpful parts of our personality are shouting the loudest, to acknowledge what they’re saying and to choose to put our attention more on the helpful parts of our personality. You don’t have to let the unhelpful parts take over.
It’s important not to ignore them completely – pay attention to what they’re saying, but you always have a choice of which parts you want to give more energy to. The following affirmation may help:
“I now choose to allow the most positive and helpful parts of my personality to be in control.”
