Most of the time we’re afraid of what might happen – and the truth is, even if it did happen you’d find that things weren’t as bad as you thought they would be.
I just did the first of a 7-day live video course on Facebook. I was a little nervous about doing it because the technology is new, and I wasn’t sure if I knew exactly how it would work or even if it would work, but I went ahead and did it anyway.
The videos are done using my phone, and one thing I didn’t realize is that the phone is supposed to be upright when you’re recording, not lengthways. As a result, my first video came out sideways, which wasn’t how it was supposed to be.
But the world didn’t fall apart. I simply re-recorded the video, explained what happened and then for the next video I’ll know what to do.
In the past I would have felt terrible for days because I had done something that wasn’t ‘perfect.’
This is just one example of how we can hold ourselves back when we aren’t willing to step out and do something that’s a little scary.
What can you do this week that’s a little scary? It doesn’t have to be something big (like jumping out of a plane). Think of one thing you’d like to do but have been holding back.
