When people try to blame you for things that are going wrong for them, you don’t have to accept it. Once you take it on, it becomes your problem. You’ll find yourself trying to sort out their issues, and/or feeling bad because you somehow think it’s your fault. Their drama then takes over your life.
People can be very convincing and if you are a natural born helper, you’ll feel bad for them and want to help in whatever way you can. I find that people who are highly sensitive (HSPs) often tend to be drawn into these situations because of their natural empathy.
You can still be sympathetic and empathetic and yet refuse to make their drama your own. In fact, it’s the most loving thing you can do – for you and ultimately for them.
If you want to protect your energy and not allow it to be misused, the next time someone tries to pull you into their drama, recognize it and don’t take it on.
